Sydney’s Trinity Grammar School results are among the best on record, with Year 12 graduates excelling and showing once again that the School continues to perform well above average. In 2017, an extremely impressive 25 Trinity students earned an ATAR of 99 or more.
Each year, the league table of school results provides a snapshot of the performance by schools across the State. Trinity Grammar School is one of the best schools in the nation, and the world. However, Trinity’s high performance is not reflected accurately in the publicised league tables.
The core reason for this is that the league table is formulated using the percentage of Higher School Certificate (HSC) Band 6 results alone and doesn’t include International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma results.
A third of Trinity’s 2017 Year 12 cohort completed the IB instead of the HSC, and it continues to grow in popularity with the 2017 cohort being the largest ever to undertake this rigorous programme.
Of the IB students, one achieved a perfect score of 45, equating to an ATAR of 99.95 and equal to first in the world, while a further five attained near perfect scores of 44 (ATAR 99.85). Trinity’s overall IB results were among the best in the country, however these are not represented in the published league table.
When combining its HSC and IB results, Trinity Grammar School achieved excellent overall results in 2017. Here are just a few highlights:
- A median ATAR of 89.70 (the NSW state median for boys is 67.65)
- 34 HSC All Round Achievers or IB Distinctions
- 12 percent of students received an ATAR equivalent to 99 or more, equal to approximately the top one percent of the state
- 49 percent of students achieved an ATAR equivalent to or above 90
- 60 percent achieved an ATAR equivalent to or above 85.
