Trinity Grammar Preparatory School in Strathfield welcomed young boys and their parents to experience firsthand its Pre-Kindergarten classrooms and programme. The visiting boys were invited to meet and play with current Pre-Kindergarten students and encouraged to explore the many play-based activities on offer.
Teaching and enrolment staff were on hand to answer questions about the programme, facilities and learning environment, while keeping a watchful eye over the little visitors who took to the environment like ducklings to water. An apt metaphor given one of the most popular activities was to watch the resident ducklings and chicks as they waddled and chirped in their enclosure in the classroom.
Pre-Kindergarten at Trinity is a specialised option with many benefits. Kerrie Sigston, Pre-Kindergarten Co-ordinator explains, “Pre-Kindergarten is an integral part of the Trinity Grammar School community and acts as a both a bridge, and foundation year between conventional preschool or long day care and Kindergarten.”
Pre-Kindergarten can make a difference to a boy’s integration into the School Community. It offers a well-structured programme providing developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that nurture, stimulate and challenge young boys aged four and five. The mind, body and spirit of each young boy is recognised with experiences extending their cognitive, physical, social, emotional and spiritual development.
While the current Trinity Pre-Kindergarten boys enjoyed showing their younger counterparts their colourful classrooms, the visitors were clearly enthralled with the games, toys and activities on display. Many gravitated toward the lightbox table which featured brightly coloured Perspex blocks illuminated by the table, while others could not resist the temptation to sit in a giant teddy bear’s lap and snuggle in while reading a book.
The Open Mornings provide a great opportunity for parents to see how teachers and students interact, learn about the Primary Years Programme on offer, and to ask questions. Kerrie explains, “We encourage and welcome lots of questions – it’s a big decision for parents and we want to ensure they feel comfortable and secure in entrusting us with their little treasures, knowing that they will receive the best care and education possible.”
Trinity Grammar Preparatory School offers Pre-Kindergarten Open Mornings four times each year, with the next one taking place Tuesday 15 November 2016 from 9.30 to 10.30am. Book your place now to experience the Trinity difference.
